The first Key Club was created in 1925 in California. The founders of the organization were two Sacramento citizens who were also members of the Kiwanis club. Their names were Albert C. Olney and Frank C. Vincent. The original clubs were comprised of the 'key boys' in the school who were willing to sacrifice their time and effort in order to serve the community. This is how Key Club got it's name.
The Blue Ridge Key Club was chartered by Jim Tobin with the help of Mr. Mike Hendricks in the year 2009. Mrs. Lori Friel was the adviser from 2009-2013. The adviser now is Mrs. Sarah Wieber.
